The last two are EXCELLENT. Find an MC for the last one and a breathy Portishead-type vocal for the second to last one.

im about 1/3 thru it, i heard one with a flaminco type sound that was a bit off beat. best one so far.

edit: i meant 2/3 thru it

i had an mpc2000xl back in the day, it's too slow so i upgraded to the computer.

depends where i'm at really. most of the time i'll either be using pro tools, cubase or logic audio.. it doesnt matter what i use, it all comes out just as good. like any instrument really, it depends on the player. you could have the dopest sound modules, plugins and gear and make the wackest shit. or you could have the wackest gear and make the hottest shit. it all depends on how you flip it. ie., the piano doesnt play the music; the piano player does.

Your layering is pretty good. Ya need some new and updated sounds though to take it over the top. I'm not sure what equipment you are working on but current sounds always help. You could be using Fruity Loops and a Korg Mini Control for all I care, but as long as you have good sounds and know how to freak your software you can turn out tracks as good as any Triton/MPC/Korg combination. Without good sounds you end up sounding like the rest of the beginners on Soundclick.

But hey, what do I know about music making. You might already have some hits for all I know. Good luck with that.

that's what i've been working on lately. trying to come up with that brand new sound. sound shaping / sound design / programming synths is a timely process -- takes hours just to come up with 1 layer that sounds okay. and so much shit has already been done, it's really hard to come up w/ new sounds nobody has heard before but i'm getting there.
