This is most likely a reference to Tarantino's admiration of Oriental action films, where honor and respect are an integral element, even in crime. Butch feels a sense of conscience, thus prompting him to return to "Russell's old room" (I don't even want to know who "Russell" was), and save Marsellus. It emphasizes the "Honor Among Thieves" theme Tarantino utilizes in both Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. And don't you think the chainsaw would be cliche? Another Texas Chainsaw Massacre ripoff -- just what we need, right?
