that's the only way to go
I always make seperate stylesheet for IE6 and all the stupid things in it...
Always remember IE6 might be a joke but it's roughly 30% of your potential costumors who will see your site as the joke through IE.
Alway optimize for IE6, IE7, FF and Safari. Maybe Opera if you wanna go extreme.
