    According to the new 2006 DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act), backed by the movie/music industry and the Bush administration, piracy can now get you 10 years of jail. As a comparison, selling child pornography or assault gets you 7 years of jail.

      Software piracy is a rather legal thing here in Russia. Cousre you could be fined if you will be caught on selling copyrighted software/movies/music, but you won't be imprisoned for sure.
