    Whats more important to you? Securing your content, Speed of delivery of your content

    , saving money on bandwidth, or... All 3? I have to say that this is the most impressed I have been with inroads for pushing our industry in the right direction. So impressed that we are switching over all our video content to CaveCreek Cdn.

    So here are some of the advantages.

    1. Your customer doesnt have to download the full file to scrub forward or back in the video. What does that mean to a program? Lots of costs saved on bandwidth. I think that alone is an awesome advantage.

    2. Speed to your customer is amazing. They are served your content from a location that is closest to them. Another huge advantage. A customer with cock in hand doesnt want to wait for buffering, they want to wank it. A happy customer is a customer that will rebill.

    3. Security. Those of us with exclusive content dont want it to be given away for free obviously. If a customer loves the content and can't find it anywhere else he is more likely to pop those credit card numbers in.

    I know this sounds kind of salesy but rest assured I am not getting paid for this. That is a testament to how much I believe in this service.

    There is a free 15 day trial so its not going to cost you a dime to find out on your own.

                              Hmm seems like Youtube has done well with no downloads. EVERY paysite needs to start to switch stuff up. Leave them downloadable vids, but make a much larger watermark. Make the downloadable quality less, and streaming higher. Unless you want to continue giving away your product when the customer is only renting. Why some of you guys WANT to continue to embrace a flawed model, then whine about content theft is beyond me. Want higher sales? Keep your content IN your members area. Pics give them that, but videos uh uh.

                                      The "HD" stays perhaps because it's larger than 320x240. True HD is 1920x1080... and trust me... it's a 9 Mbps stream minimum.

                                      Their services cost way much than just stacking more servers to my cluster and I am completely sure they cannot push several GBps nor can scale properly when we are talking about 3 - 5 TB of content.
                                      It's a nice service for a small program, but nothing decent to use when you are managing lots of content and need huge BW.

                                          Thats wrong. Huge bandwidth is EXACTLY why you would want the service. You need to research more what CDN is. If you want hit up Bryan L and he will give you the full lowdown, but not only does this service increase the speed of your content getting to your members you also save A LOT of bandwidth. So normally a customer would have to download the full file to view the end of the video. Do you realize how many customer goto the end of a video to see the cumshot? Btw in my members area Im pusing 854x480 which can be opened to full screen viewing and looks awesome. 854x480 is 480p I can push 720p and it still looks beautiful.

                                          Forget what you know about quality vs bitrate until you encode to h264. Its a whole different scale. The vids you see on that page are only 1.5mpbs. So not only do you save bandwidth due to ability to scrub through vid without downloading full file, you also have much smaller file sizes with the h264.

                                          And a quick deal on the cdn. It has nothing to do with clustering servers. This is about delivering the content to your customer from a location that is closer to them. Closer Datacenter means faster file speed. Again Bryan L can explain whatever you need to know about this service.

                                          Btw I only shoot in HD so I know all about it, but you have to compromise sometimes. Call it whatever you want, but delivering your content to your customer at the HIGHEST quality possible is where it is.

                                                      How they deal with instant video playback? How they deal with super high quality video? Sorry I dont have many 56k customers or people using pentium II computers. We dont aim at that market, and those customers would be unlikely to be able to even playback our downloadable clips.

                                                      Im going to open a gas station specializing in LEADED gas only next. Fuck that technology shit.

                                                      All I know is continue on with the old ways. Ill move forward and ahead, and try to provide MY members with the highest quality content, and fastest delivery I can. All the while trying to break through the "you get all my shit for a rental" model.

                                                                                                      You pay a monthly fee and get unlimited access to their online archive, yes. You cannot download movies. The movies are quite grainy. And the selection of movies is extremely limited.

                                                                                                                      I think the Netflix stream is pretty good. They are also supposed to be linking up with the XBox 360 and PS3 pretty soon.

                                                                                                                      I do have to say that I don't think you can compare what Netflix does to a porn site though. With Netflix, you're talking about a company that has to deal with the rules and regulations of each individual studio. The choice to stream and not allow downloads isn't made by Netflix, it's made by the studios. It's the reason they aren't on the Mac at the moment. With a porn site, the content is yours and you're making the decision on whether you want to leave it open to the public for download.
