How to price a new service

I have an idea.

Why not offer to buy someone else's service, of a similar nature, and tell them not to deal with anyone else -- to close out all other buyers.

Then, refer them to someone who is a drugged up moron who can't bother to return ICQ's and phonecalls.

Then, disappear and don't answer your ICQ's.

Then, pretend like it never happened, and ignore the money and opportunity you cost them.

Oh, and then? Go fuck yourself.

No drama really. This is from a long time ago so here's my recollection:


Someone posted about the lucrative potential of GOLD mining at WOW, the link posted at GFY was http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3141815

Edgeprod posts a thread regarding having a bot that autoplays World of Warcraft. As you know, selling WOW gold is a very lucrative business(although pretty much closed biz due to volume distributors like IGE.com who use very very cheap Chinese contractors). I contact him.

He tells me that he has many bids for his bot already and that I have to rush rush rush to get a deal. I contact one of my clients regarding the deal and my client contacts him. Edgeprod gets the idea that we're telling him to shut out other bidders. My client said he wanted to see the bot and set up a meeting in person. The bot was sent to my client(I never saw it, never played it), it apparently crashed after some time passes. My client calls off the whole preliminary talks thinking the bot's defective. Edgeprod later said he INTENTIONALLY programmed in a memory leak to crash the bot.

So he now claims that I "scammed" him out of some prior offer for $50K that someone else made to him. First of all, we never had a deal with him cuz the app didnhahaha8217;t work. Second, if this is true why didn't he go back to that guy? He claims the guy found another bot. If that's true, why not go back to the long list of people that answered his original thread.

Anyway, he says I "fucked him out of 50K+" so its just fair if he fucks my company out of any new business by calling me a scammer etc etc. I contacted him about his drama but he says since I "fucked him" he's out to fuck me and my reputation and he is putting my on ignore at ICQ.

No one wins in situations like this, I just laid out my side of the story and let everyone else decide.

Regardless, the WOW gold market is tied up by IGE.com and other big time Chinese-based companies(it was even mentioned in the article above)--all of them using their custom UIs and bots. What makes this different from those or any other player who claims they have a bot? I don't really care, my client wanted to get into the gold biz but given all these facts he gave up when the bot kept crashing.

IMPORTANT: This "drama" has nothing do with the new ADWORDS conversion boosting service we'll be releasing soon.

A few clarifications:

1) I had a few bidders, but there was no rush. I was told by Detoxed and Gene "don't sell this to anyone else." The message was clear.

2) Detoxed saw a demo of the bot, with me walking him through it on the phone. He was pleased with the results, and said he'd talk to Gene. After hearing nothing for a few weeks, I reminded Gene other deals were pending, and asked for a deal/no deal statement. Gene told me to deal directly with Detoxed, who was his rep. I implemented every changed asked for, spent a TON of time making custom changes, NEVER heard anything about a "crash" or ANYTHING of the sort -- just successes, like level 60 characters, and gold being farmed. Every phone call told me of how great it was doing, and what needed to be added to make it work better. Every time, I made the changes. Every time, it was "we'll pay for this RIGHT AFTER change X, Y, or Z is done." Once again, I approached Gene, once again, I got the "interface directly with Detoxed, he's leading this deal" line.

3) After still having no deal, I contacted Gene again, no response. No response from anyone at this point. Other buys have purchased other bots as I get circle-jerked by the two of them. Detoxed continues to use my bot, I get no payment, and no response.

4) I'm not out to "fuck" anyone, and I never even made a thread. I just don't want to see you AaronM anyone.

5) If I had heard ANYTHING about crashes, it would have been a different story. To bring it up a ton of time later is something completely ridiculous.

6) It has EVERYTHING to do with your new service. Once a scammer, always a goat-fucker.

7) I like butt-sex.

Epilogue:

Suggest a settlement amount, in good faith, and it'll go to bed. Once again, I've never made a drama thread about it -- just contacted you on ICQ to try to work it out.

I'm all ears, and PayPal works.

ok, I read the whole thing but I still don't get it, how did exactly Gene scam you if he's not the one using the bot?

He appointed a representative to control the development and sale of the bot. That individual was terrible, asking for feature after feature, then trying to say something was flawed with the bot. Despite my keeping Gene in the loop on all of this, he instructed me to deal directly with his representative, and that they were putting in "computers at an offshore facility" before they went ahead with the purchase.

He asked me to make him the ONLY buyer of the product, which I gladly did.

Then, he fell off the map, not responding to ICQ, as did his rep.

I'm offering a settlement. I think Gene is a reasonable guy, so I assume we'll settle easily.

I'm sorry but Gene's reputation speaks for itself. You're barking up the wrong tree as far as i'm concerned...

I think that's the biggest problem with GFY.

I'm not going to make any more issues about it -- but he knows what happened, as do my ICQ logs, and some of the phone conversations I have of me and his representative.

He isn't taking my settlement offer, and I think that says something in itself about him.

I'm gone from this thread.
