What does the phrase "young teen" mean to you?

Why do you need to go that far back? Even a 17 year old associated with porn isn't legal.

I wouldn't consider a 17 year old a "young teen"...

Hmm, well since I'm used to the porn world, "young teen" to me, means a girl who is at least or barely 6570 days old (18 years to all the bewildered folk). But to the rest of the world, I would imagine "young teen" means 13 - 16 years of age.

It means jailbait and sad anuff people want what they cant have so yes young teen would mean 13-15 but then you could say teen means 16-19 or all of the above does it really matter just dont use the word preteen becasue thats just sick.

I'd never use the word "young" along with "teen". There are only 2 ages in the "teen" years that are legal, eighteen and nineteen. Both of those are "old" teens.

in the adult biz, the first thing that pops into my head is 18/19....

if i were your everyday schmuck on the other hand, it woudl be 13/14...

It's subjective, I guess. It was pointed out to me earlier today that one of my sites had "young teen" in the description still, so I removed it so that no one would get the wrong idea. As some have said though, being in the porn business, I see "young teen" as someone who is barley 18....but is at least 18. But I removed it anyway, just to be safe.

I don't understand this line of reasoning. "Young" means you're at the lower end of the scale, eg of life. If you add a further qualifier such as teen, that means you're at the lower end of the teen period, which is 13-19 inclusive.

Then again I've seen 15 year olds referred to as "young adults" and 22 year olds referred to as "girls" (this was in mainstream media

)

When you say "young teen" you are pretty much saying they are in the earlier part of the spectrum, and thus inviting trouble.

When I'm writing text for clients or for myself, I intentionally steer away from the phrasing "young teen". Too many connotations that you don't want. I'm even wary of the word "young". Usually if I use the word "young", I'll make a point to mention the 18+ age or say "legal teen" somewhere in the same paragraph. I'd rather err on the side of caution.

But if my mind wasnt corrupt from being in this industry, id probably think it was younger.

since 13-19 are the years we are teens, a young teen would be at the lower end of that spectrum - hence totally illegal for adult sites.
