Who are the best photographers in our business?

FTV and Met-Art have great photography.

As for individual photographers, I like the work of Petter Hegre, J. Stephen Hicks, Ken Marcus, Suze Randall, Garo Aida, and Red Ezra (plus many more).

QuantumX mostly posts non-adult pix, but I think his work is exceptional.

what I like about hicks is that he captures a woman's warmth and depth instead of forcing every woman into a 'look' like some of the shooters from the 80's that are still shooting today.

although dean has a 'look' he manages to capture the warmth that I love in woman too. very exceptional work for sure. I know dean works long diligent hours to achieve that.

good photography is very difficult. it's no coincident for the most part that the better shooter are older and more experienced. I've only been shooting for 14 years, I have a long way to go.

some of the porn shooters here at GFY have the unnatural gift of making any woman unattractive. it's pretty amazing really. I think they could shoot snaps at disneyland and it would look sleazy, dirty and illegal. a real gift for sure. not really my cup of tea though.

one thing that really kills me is all the poor composition and bad color posted here. then another funny thing to me is the 'airbrush' crowd, they can't see shit and confuse competent photography with being airbrushed. one guy that shoots crap even said once that he would just pull the stuff into photoshop and make it 'glamor' what a fucking hoot!

It is hard with the air brushing.. because so many people do it.. some more than others..

really the only way to look at images is to look at things in RAW.. no photoshop

RAW: a murky, black and white image with no curves applied. yes that's how I like to view images as well. -bmb

Steve learned his trade shooting for a market that paid well and rejected everything that did not meet the standards. This market pays $2,000 non exclusive for what this market wants exclusive for $400 to $500 and with a video. There is one and only one reason more web shooters don't sell to magazines. They can't Hicks can. Yes the market is in decline, but some of the names quoted here work all day for what a magazine shooter earns in an hour.

Learning to capture a models sexuality and personality is something that needs skills. Skills that have nothing to do with photography. Taking a beautiful picture of a beautiful woman with todays equipment is pretty easy. Taking a porn picture is sometimes tough, depends on the person pointing the camera. Those that screw it up have only themselves to blame.

I recently saw a SAMPLE clip of a shooters work, he's trying to sell to me. The technical quality of the work was flawless. Beautiful girl, beautiful setting, well lit and well shot. The porn was non existent. The model was going through the motions. When I mentioned this to the shooter he said the model faked everything and was usually bored.

Two things wrong here. Send her home and don't try to sell her to the porn industry. Members don't retain with boring models.

Who do I like? Petter Hegre, J. Stephen Hicks, Suze Randall, and the guys who shoot for Alsscan, Simon Scans, Tim Turner.

Photography is admired and Pornography sells.

And if you want to know why it's important then think of why a surfer becomes a member and a member stays 1 month or three. We produce wank material, jerk off fodder. Few people surfing the net for porn are looking for a nice photo. They go to the local library for that.

They want to rub one out. You can be a crap photographer and a great pornographer.
