You shoot a close up of something and pull out from it to show the wide shots, plus you get some isolated cutaway shots, like say the fireplace nearby, or a pelican watching the scene if you are filming outdoors or a vase of flowers on the mantle nearby, to tie things together just in case. And don't forget the "fip", or fake internal pop, in a softcore version of a hardcore or simulated boy-girl scene.
Some very good advise here, add to the cut aways face, tits, soft ass shot, panties on crutch shot, hand over naked crutch shot. Side ways on masturbation shots.

Spot on. If the model has what it takes you're up and running. If she does not you're dead in the water. And it can't be a half hearted fake either. A girl with being DPed can get away with faking it, most girls doing softvore have to reach inside to pull something out for real. A girl having a real orgasm and sharing it with you can be very effective, a girl telling you how she likes to have sex, what she will do to you, what you will do to her, a girl trying her best for you to get your dick out and jerk off in front of her is one of the best soft core films ever. She has to genuinely want you to get your dick out in front of her, telling you and teasing you. A girl doing it to a camera is not the same, it lacks the personal interaction.

You're the boss and make sure she works to your instructions. You had best know what they are first. Then you tell her on the casting what you're aiming to achieve and how you will work and why it needs to be done that way. Have others around the location but not in the room. It's a one to one thing.

Shooting softcore solo properly is the toughest genre in porn. Couples are easy by a long shot.

Good advice if shooting couples.

Spot on the money, know what you're going to shoot before the model turns up for a casting. Do not spring it on her on the shoot and do not "wing it"

I'm not sure what you're shooting and how softcore you want to go and why you're shooting it. If it's a drop dead gorgeous model you want to shoot then you might be stuck. She's already in control, not you.

If you want to shoot for a softcore site, why bother unless you know exactly what to do.

How softcore are you going? No penetration gives you masturbation full on. True softcore gives you a lot less options.

Tough one to answer and I hope some of the above fits what you're trying to achieve.
