I don't believe they ever stated such a thing in relation to subscription based content. DRM in mainstream was always about limiting one time purchase content to a single device.
I think it's sad that DRM didn't take hold in adult. It didn't stop the piracy aspect, but there probably would have been value in rebills had all adult sites went with it and found some way to make it work.
DRM as you probably know it is already dead, per se....but there are new forms of DRM coming out almost daily. In fact, yesterday I got a preview of the new ENCRYPTED Flash video streaming solution that will be available in just a few weeks. It will actually encrypt the video between the server and the client on the fly.
There will always be people trying to build a better mousetrap.

So members won't be able to go into their internet cache and pull out the .flv file?
DRM will only die if it's the crappy DRM we are talking about. The DRM that's transparent to the user, user's don't care about. WMV DRM is the worst. Not only is it incompatible with a lot of platforms but it also is extremely obstructive to the porn experience. Who wants to type their username and password for the site login every 2 minutes.
Streaming is a pretty good DRM and it will only become more and more prevalent.

Won't be long before someone comes out with a program that can snoop on the contents of the video card memory (ie: what is displayed after DRM, encryption etc has been satisfied) and save what's there. If they haven't already.
That pic is awesome in soooo many ways - thanx - totally applies to this thread

been done and will always continue to be done through any hardware/software changes in the future.
Personally, I have never had a problem finding a user friendly crack to ANY video 'protection' methods ... VHS, DVD, Digital DRM, all kinds of crazy 'limited viewing licence' schemes...
You make the protection, it prevents mom-and-pops, and surfers from getting more than they pay for... however, I have a huge library of 'cracked' video
I predict that its a battle that will never be 'won', just keep changing the delivery methods and keep the bulk of the population from doing it... won't stop me, and many others like me.
believe me - without free porn, just as many people will seek porn out on the Internet, and many more will pay if there is no free alternative, its not like sex is a fad - it can be milked much like any renewable resource - long term
