i like both in combination.
awstats firstly monitors everything secondly isnt really capable of viewing timelines like analytics can, but it also presents some of the info in a better way.Comment

What ticks me off is that neither will give me a thread ID.
All I see in either stats is "gfy.com/showthread.php"

picture a world where google gives a tiny bump in the serps to google analytic installed sites, or assumes more traffic/relevancy to some that have the analytics vs. those that don't

why don't you actually TRY using google analytics. It's completely different than AWSTATS.
