I just got back from there, been looking to buying a place down there.
For touristy crap hit Bourbon street with all the other Ametuers, head down to boubon and St Phillps and get a drink at Laffites. And if your looking for some real good music without all the touristy prices, head to Frenchmen Street where all the locals go for good music ( the guy at the apple barrel plays some amazing blues)
Crawfish are in season so get out of the Quarter and head up Magazine Street to The Bulldog bar, go across the street and get your crawfish and bring them back to the bar and eat them in their courtyard.
Magnus was right on the money with suggesting JacquesImo's was there a few weeks ago and cant be beat but expect to wait. Too bad you not there on a tuesday, the bar next door has the Rebirth Brass Band, just a amazing 10 pc brass band that will blow your mind. Plus the place is packed with hot college hunnies.
Cohon is another mazing place to eat, but only if you like pig. And if your looking for the best of the best in NO go to Stella, that is my favorite restuarant on the planet, its so good its almost like sex.
Hit me up if you like, i know alot of places down there that are off the beaten path and are worth going to
