Ya its getting switched over this week. Im working with what the webmaster prior to me installed. Its really bloated. It was much slower before if you can believe it.

Ya former people working on it put on a loaded version of oscommerce, that is inheriently slow. Also there is over 500 people on the catalog atm.

Ya I kind of agree, but there are large sites using it as a backend. I have to use what I have for a bit. Problem is we already have 5000+ products and customer info etc inputed to the osc. If someone knows a better backend and how to pull over everything we currently have Im all for bids here. Speed is of the essence. For both the site speed, and speed in transitioning over.

Ill look into xcart. We are trying to determine the problem with the speed. I dont think its webair. Ive had them checking load on cpu and memory and networking, all are barely moving. Its all in the backend we are using. Still looking for a solution. Ill check out x cart.

I get 14ms, which is excellent ( pinging the IP ). So the server is fine.

So you really have a problem with the cart .. and I don't think that OS commerce is the main cause ....

Hard to tell until they are loaded with products. A cart with 10 products isnt going to react the same way as the same thing with 5000+ products.

Still not sure exactly what the speed issue is. May just be code that is running. There is only one instance of javascript that the previous guys installed. Ill remove that infobox and see if it makes a difference, but pretty sure I tested it before.

Little bump. Speed should be a bit better now. Still having intermittent issues with the catalog calling too many queries and slowing the page down.

Sales are purring along now though after the site redesign and all the tweaks that have been done. Take advantage of the 15% discount before its gone.
