          Because China's human rights record is dreadfull - it dosnt take a huge leap of imagination to assume they are executing people to order - whether they have commited a crime or not.

                      Eh, that's a tricky subject. Is it wrong the way that they went about it? Yeah, probably. I didn't read the whole story, but if they were selling the organs, then that is wrong. But on the other hand, if 10 year old "Little Timmy" is laying in a hospital bed and is gonna die if he doesn't get a new heart, and some saddistic rapist, serial killer, etc. is setting on Death Row and his heart is a match...well, I guess you have to decide which life has the most value. In my opinion, the kid that has never had a chance at life is gonna win out every time.

                      That's just my opinion, but I'll also say this. There was talk of "human rights violations" in that story...but in my opinion, if you're sitting on Death Row, that pretty much means that you have violated the "human rights" of others...and thus, you shouldn't have any human rights anymore. I've seen too much in the papers lately about child molesters/killers, and in my opinion, if harvesting their organs could save another childs life...strap them to the gurney, baby!

                                                      I can honestly say, with my hand on my fully funcioning heart that I would die first.

                                                      If someone wants to sell an organ to me then I will take it - but the thought that I can 'order' an organ in my hospital bed and someone on the other side of the world gets killed and 'harvested' is probably one of the most vile things I can imagine.

                                                              My mother went their a few years back and she got talking to a Taxi driver about how safe the place was - he told her a few things he probably shouldnt and then got really nervous that he said too much to the wrong person. She had to convince him she wasnt some govt official.

                                                              Im not sure that feeling safe at any costs is worth it.

Lets see, China has over a billion people; even if they have a far lower crime rate than the US, they could still have more murderers, rapists, whatever, by number. I was watching a documentary on China, they have trial lawyers going after companies for workers injuries, pollution, etc. just like the US. Not to say they have a perfect system, but neither is the US's.

                                                                                                                                              There are very contradicting reports of what that country is like. You can turn on TV one day and see a well developed country, and the next they have an extreme human rights violation show where kids are picking food out of mud to eat. So which is true?

                                                                                                                                              They have the Olympics in 2008, and the world media will be there. Then we will get an accurate picture of what's really going on. They won't be able to contain the media to specific parts either. You can bet undercover documentaries are being planned right now.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Go to China to see kids taking the bus on their own late at night, come to South Africa and see GROWN-UPS walking the streets past 7 pm - there're NONE !!!! I support the death penalty 100% - murderers, gang rapists, child molesters, and all the other scum should be shot in the head 5 days after the end of their trials.
