It was like it was slow motion, the first plane that was above the other one had its engines FULL THROTTLE to avoid the second plane. UNBELIEVABLE! And I had a camera (phone) and forgot to take a fucking picture.

I wonder if this hits the news or if it is "hushed" away... My god, that was HAIRY!!!
What date and time did it happen? You can enter the date and time into here http://www4.passur.com/lax.html and you should be able to see it unfolding. That would be interesting to see.

put in the time of 11.18am today and push play! It happens around 11.19. Check out the planes on TOP of eachother!

Freaky shit. If they hit eachother I would have been in the path of one of them for sure. Dead man.

You have to wonder with the amount of flights there is..how many close calls have there been?

Very true. I live about 10 minutes away from LAX and think about it from time to time - today was MY first close call to witness though. Amazing it has not gone wrong before (in a long time)...

Yeah I see it. SWA flight 436 and JAL flight 60. Does that jive with what you saw? The Air Traffic Control audio tapes to match would be great - anyone know a site that logs them?

It was actually two Southwest planes, no JAL. Both landed on the NORTH runway.

When I type in the time you say at http://www4.passur.com/lax.html it shows the two planes as SWA flight 436 and JAL flight 60. North Runways. The JAL flight does not land and goes around again.

I think it was in Vegas that Michel & Patty from Qwebec Expo were on a flight that was landing, the wheels touched the ground and the pilot lifted back up to avoid a plane that was coming straight for them.

So I looked for any news bit on this near crash since it happened yesterday, nothing. Brushed off like as if it never happened.

There were some electronics probs at the Southern Calif ATC. They lost power completely today for a while.

Atlanta's airport got shut down today also after the TSA found an explosive device.

Southwest has nevered lost a plane.

I think they are the only ones.

                                              oystein,
my buddy works as an air traffic controller at LAX, he told me today that two SWA jets were about 175 feet (not yards) from collision. he also said that all the SWA pilots are ex-fighter jocks who get really cocky. the incoming pilot was telling the plane taking off to stay put. totally fuct situation. the term he used was "near-fatal". hit me up on ICQ for more info.

                                              drug/alcohol tests are underway.

I was on a plane that was very close to actually landing (40 feet off the ground) when it nosed up and went full throttle. Apparently, another plane was taxing on the runway. It's really something to hear those engines go full blast. The whole plane shakes.

I sent him the passur.com link. He watched it and said that it was highly interesting and they are going to make some calls.

I bet it makes news now. He told them a guy named "John" reported it.

                                                      Lets see what happens.

my buddy works as an air traffic controller at LAX, he told me today that two SWA jets were about 175 feet (not yards) from collision. he also said that all the SWA pilots are ex-fighter jocks who get really cocky. the incoming pilot was telling the plane taking off to stay put. totally fuct situation. the term he used was "near-fatal". hit me up on ICQ for more info.

                                                        drug/alcohol tests are underway.
