How to password protect godaddy.com domain folder?

    How to password protect godaddy.com domain folder?

    I've done a search on this, and used the .htaccess and .htpasswd files, but the folder is still accessable. The only thing I can think of is that my root folder is incorrect its /xxxxxx on the remote. So, wouldn't the root that I'd use to point to the .htpasswd file be /xxxxxx/members ? I checked the control panel on godaddy, but there was not a tool that I could find that would make a folder password protected and allow me to create a password.

    Is there something else I'm missing? Is godaddy.com difficult or unique in it's folder password protecting?

      That would be something that your host would be able to do. Also, the .htaccess should work fine. You can set it up so that only your IP can go through and noone else's, which is rather secure.

          Since it's something my host can do, and godaddy.com doesn't allow porn on its hosting, I can't call them to ask how it's done.

          Are you familiar with the godaddy.com control panel?

              I said fuck the godaddy hosting and switched to Midphase.com. Midphase has a control panel feature that will allow you to password protect folders.

              Yea..

              Alot of banging my head against the wall for nothing. Fuck godaddy hosting for anything more complex than a simple webpage.

                          Yeah, I've heard conflicting reports as to how well htaccess works at GayDaddy. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't work well.

                              I, for one, love godaddy. I wouldn't use them as a host, but for a registrar, definately.
