Anyway, if you're dead set on some rap, what about some of the girls? Lil' Kim (Marc Jacobs loves her), Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah (probable lesbian), Eve, etc. Q-Tip formerly of Tribe Called Quest has long been rumored to be a homo-thug. Kanye West also had a song on his last album against gay-bashing in hip-hop music. Despite his ego and dumb-fuckery, he's a great rapper.

I think it's the case that we haven't been exposed to a lot of rap, so don't even have a starting point when it comes to songs/artists that we might like.

I think you'll like most of the famale rappers I pointed out. If you're into Old School rap, you could also add MC Lyte to the list or if you're into conscious rap, maybe Common and Talib Kwele. The rap industry is vast and I think I pointed out some of the more melodic artists and those who are less likely to shock your system with the "pussy nigga, you're a fag" offensive lyrics for you.

MC Lyte -- Capuccino, Lyte as a Rock, Poor Georgie
Talib Kwele --- Get By
Common -- anything from his last album, as well as "I Used to Love H.E.R.", Be, The Light
LL Cool J -- I Need Love, Can't Live Without my Radio, Going back to Cali, Rock the Bells, I'm Bad, Rock the Bells

Just to take issue with you for a minute, some of those rappers are far from uneducated, but they might be described as intolerant. Anyway, I'm sure it may be the least offensive thing you've heard in your life, but I thought you and your BF might want to support artists who even if they don't come out as "gay friendly", they aren't "gay offensive".

That's why you'll notice no Busta Rhymes on my list. I love his new song, "Touch It" (the remix with Mary J. Blige is awesome), but he pissed me off by dissing a gay fan in Miami a few weeks ago. It was all over Page Six.

Overall, Jay-Z is my favorite rapper and he, 2Pac, Nas, Biggie, Ice Cube, Outkast, Goodie Mob, and T.I. are some of the best lyricists (some new, some older) in the last 10 years IMHO. I don't know for sure, but would bet and suspect that some of their lyrics would use words offensive to gay people. I also love the 36 Mafia song "Sippin on Some Sizzurp", but I know it uses the word "fag". So that's why I didn't suggest a lot of the rappers/groups that I love.

If you're not accustomed to the way rappers talk about women or toss around the word "fag", then you'd be turned off by it. People (even who love hip hop have grown accustomed to it and pretty much ignore it. That?s worthy of a thread in itself, but no matter what, I?ve always loved hip-hop.
