    FUCK godaddy

    Fucking scumbags. Been with them for years and they never emailed me when 2 of my domain names expired. Now they want an $80 "restoration" fee. Fucking extortion. Either pay the fee or hope like hell no one back ordered your domain. Fucking crooks. Hey godaddy you too Bob Parsons.

                          They got a "spam complaint" on one of my domains. I don't bulk mail and do not allow affiliates to do it.

                          They extorted $100 out of me or they would steal my domain from me.

                          Godaddy ARE scumbags. Lots of warnings here on this forum.

                          Don't use them guys on anything other than throw away domains.

                                  The reason they are extorting all over the place is because alot of people regsiter their domains with all those promo's. If you search you can can register .coms there for as low as 4.5$/pop.

                                          I really don't possibly see how a totally automatic system somehow skipped you and only you. I get notices every day. You either deleted the email on accident or somehow the email got lost in cyber-space (it does happen).

                                              I have a godaddy account (actually http://rebatedomains.com) as well, and I keep getting emails when the expiry date is 90 days out. I keep getting emails with a 60 day, 30 day, 15 day, 7 day notices - don't know if that changes to daily as I always renew before that.

                                              They even called me and offered to lower the monthly rate to just $6.95 for

                                                      Off the top of my head, they send out a 90 day, 60 day, 30 day, 7 day, and a 3 day (I could be wrong on the 3), then I believe they send an email out the day it happens, PLUS they send out an email several times afterwards to remind you that your domain expired and it needs to be renewed immediately. If you didn't receive ANY of those, something must be wrong with your email.

                                                          That would make since, except all the other ones I got from them came thru. No godaddy email is deleted, it's all sent to the same folder. However I have no emails on these 2 particular domain names.

                                                                                                      I just lost the domain to my personal site which sucked major ass since thats where alot of my e-mail was going. I told Dotster to go fuck themselves and I went over to another service and backordered my own domain. Cost me $60 but it did work -- thank god.

                                                                                                      But I learned my lesson. Never rely on the registrars to send you an e-mail, e-mail is unreliable at best and down right worthless when put into more realistic terms, now days I signin to all registrar accounts once monthly to look for expiring domains and renew as needed.

                                                                                                      Cant rely on others to do your thinking or legwork for you.

                                                                                                              GoDaddy is probably the best registrar we have ever dealt with.

                                                                                                              100's of domains, and never had one extorted from us. You must have had a really great URL for them to want it so badly.

Godaddy sends out email warnings at 90, 60, 30, and 15 days before expiration, as well as the first failed renew attempt.

                                                                                                                                                                      Double check that a) your email address they have is correct, and b) that your spam filters are not filtering the address (add godaddy to your friends list/whitelist)

                                                                                                                                                                              If you have multiple domains coming due for renewal, find a reason to have to call customer support - they will see you have multiple renewals coming due when they call up your account, and they will offer you 50% off to renew them all with them on the phone ... happened to me last 2 times I called ... I got over 300 domains with them, so I always got 8+ ready for renewal at any given time ...

I always get emails from them starting from about 3 months before the domain name expires and even after it is expired, they still would email me.

                                                                                                                                                                                              Whenever I log into my GoDaddy account to purchase a domain or one of their services, they will always add the expiring domains to the order form. Of course, there is auto-renewal and that would take away all your worries about renewing. You can set that auto-renewal option when you purchase the domain name. I only set the domain names which I do not need to the Do Not Renew option and leave the rest to renew or either just load it up for 10 years because it is a lot cheaper that way.
