To be taken seriously? I can see why age would be a factor, at least as a first impression. Just because you are a business owner, doesn't mean the person on the other end should or has to take you seriously, no matter the age.
You could be any age, young adult or old, if you tell me you run a business I often will ask a couple of questions. You could be 10, and you answer back with confidence and appear to have drive, I would have a little more overall respect for you.
Age will always play a factor, younger success is harder to swallow for the guy that can't see past the selfish self or the lack of being able to see ones own success as being good.
