Flying into Oakland for San Fran? Is this fine?

Is it a long drive? Lots of traffic?

Seems like a lot more flights use Oakland.

    Any advice is appreciated.

              Oakland is great

take the airbart from the airport $2 to the Bart station. then you can take Bart into the city for about $4 dollars

You can see SF across the water from Oakland. If you're renting a car, you just want to take 880 north to 80 west, and go over the bridge. It will take about 20 minutes from the airport.

Bart better, bart faster, bart cheaper. Parking is something to avoid in SF.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like the BART is the way to go.

SFO does not offer much in flight availabilty....

                          Hi Cory,

You definitely can get more flights into Oakland, but in the event you get stuck and have to or want to take a cab instead of the BART, expect to pay in the $60+ range with a fair tip to get from Oakland into downtown SFO.

If you choose to go that route, I recommend booking a car in advance, instead of taking a cab. Through Super Shuttle's web site, you can book an ExecuCar to take you into the city for about the same price as a cab, but without waiting much and in a decent size sedan/town car.

                          Cheers,

                          Scott
