    Anyone have experience with eBay

Mainly being a "PowerSeller" on eBay. I've been reading a bit about it and have been thinking about getting into it, since I have both the money and programming knowledge to make things automated.

Anyone have good success stories with eBay? Care to shed some light on the topic, and help get me going in the right direction? Any help would be appreciated!

We worked on eBay as a Powerseller for years but stopped when they raised their fees. Even running an eBay store with the reduced costs was a pain. If you don't sell in large volume and buy wholesale it can be difficult to operate with a healthy profit margin. Maybe we did something wrong, but we found operating your own site was more successful.

What he said. Between PayPal/merchant accounts, eBay fees, auction software, ect. the margains just aren't there. I'm sure there are a few items that can make it, but even when we were working with 20% profit margains on items we couldn't make much of a profit after all the fees.

If you have any questions hit me up on ICQ... I'll get into greater detail there.

Sold a classic Rolls Royce on eBay that was once owned by Judy Garland. Got 2 celeb car collectors bidding on it and it skyrocketed to 2 1/2 times its appraised value.

The winner bought it just off the pics, didn't even need to see it in person, and wired the money the next day.

We sold everything from fine lingerie, i.e. Voller's Custom Corsets, Leg Avenue, to Department 56 Collectables, etc. The profit margin were ok at first but the problem was keeping a solid stock. You'd have some items sell 10xs a week for 4-5xs your price, you'd stock up thinking you had a great seller and then it wouldn't sell for months.....pain in the ass!

I have a blueprint of the 1901 Indian Single motorcycle that I didn't have too much luck selling on EBay. quite a few people, wh are resepectable in the collector industry, have told me it's a gem. Never the less, EBay wasn't successful for me.

I think there's someone on here who makes a TGP with free scripts and FHGs and sells them on eBay for a few hundred bucks. Pretty stupid I think, but it looks like they sell...
