I've been with PhatServers for a long time with my content plugin on their servers. How the hell you spiked to 20 mps with 1000 visitors tells me you need to cut down the size of your vids, watch your bandwidth and limit the amount of vids an IP address can watch.

There was a clear misunderstanding with Phatservers, the way you explained to them your needs ie. video sharing site and 1000 uniques was not the way to do that, you need to acknowledge your mistakes first before going onto posting something so nasty about a company.

They did not trick you neither they did anything malicious as you seem imply pack up and go home you cant expect anyone to pay for your mistakes.

1) I wouldn't have moved my site if he told me the truth - which would be "I cannot tell you what you need unless you tell me your exact bandwidth that you are using".
No because he could figure that I was on a tight budget and this was a nice way to lure me into a bigger plan.
Have in mind that I told him "video sharing website" - okay maybe this doesn't make sense to many people but after all I gave him my domain to check it out.

2) I never told them to have me on a 20mbps

3) I was only on that server for not even a week and you think it is fair to pay $300 for that?

4) I said fuck it and didn't say a word about it.... but now after telling me that they canceled billing and my hosting plan (which wasn't accessible on the same day - yes, which is fine with me) and all of sudden after 2 months they decide to charge me another $150 - THAT IS NOT OKAY!!!! If it is then please explain WHY?

Or at least give me my deposit back...... then again, I used those 20mbps for one week and if they think it is fair to charge $300 for that then so be it.

I think you are missing the point, you couldn't give him enough information and based on what you gave him --1000 HITS TO THE SITE -- they gave you the best package.

Again, with 1000 visitors and spiking that high ... limit your vid size, limit the IPs, and god sake watch your bandwidth.

You spiked because you didn't have a cap on it and you would have been here bitching if for some reason you went down because you only authorized 3 mps and your surfers couldn't watch vids cause you actually needed 20 mps.

Do some research ... the Internet is full of information.

Not going to weigh in on right or wrong here, next time, look into unmetered (capped) options, then you can assess your next move a little better.

I been with a few other server company's over the past 5 years, but now i have been alphared for about 1year now & so far they are the best.

I just looked over our e-mail and I don't see anything about the second billing. Maybe you sent it to billing and not me, that's understandable. If you were billed again, it was a mistake and I will take care of it.

As to the rest of the issues being mentioned in this thread, I have to thank everyone else for speaking for me. They have summed it up.

Good Morning everyone... yes, even you Fabien.

First off, Fabien, like Sly said, if you have received any further invoices, ignore them, that is in fact an error on our part as I had your account canceled. If anything further was billed beyond the first invoice it will be refunded.

Secondly, this is a prime example of why we decided to migrate 99% of support and sales communication to our archived help desk years ago... selective memory. You want to match your selective excerpts against our time stamped archive then we can do that.

Normally I wouldn't waste this much time on something like this but Sly doesn't deserve they way you treated him in all of this.

The simple fact is there was a lack of understanding and communication right off the bat with you. No one ever tried to scam you, but you weren't very forth coming at first, only saying your site was small, around 1K visitors per day and you provide no stats for us to analyze. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as well as take you at your own words that you didn't understand servers or bandwidth. But that does not remove you from the responsibility of paying for what you signed up for and used in the first month.

First Sly was a scammer, now you have back tracked and I'm the asshole, OK, great... I'm an asshole then. But Sly is far from one and the last person in the adult sector that would try to scam you. He tried to help you out and gave you a great server that could quickly scale up as he knew you would quickly eat up the BW with a Tube Style site, even though you didn't understand what we were trying to explain to you. Once Sly understood what your site was and that you were on a budget since you were still "testing your site" he recommended our base 3 MBPS plan for $150, which was unmetered/capped since you didn't want any surprises. So, not surprisingly, what happens right off the bat? You max the cap out. On 2/22 Chris explained this concept to you again, we remove it and Sly explains that you need to UPGRADE YOUR BANDWIDTH PLAN, NOT YOUR SERVER as you keep telling everyone. Your server could have pushed around 100 MBPS. You've already said the server ran fine, it was never a server issue. You replied back and said "Okay". Sly updated you later that day on the BW usage saying we would let it run over the weekend. The following week once you realized the bandwidth was moving up and Sly said we needed to change the plan you said no, you wanted a refund. After going back and forth and trying to explain BW usage to you we decided to waive the required 30 day notice and let you cancel, but sorry, you are still responsible for paying for the first month of usage. You can threaten to charge back all you want, but you are responsible for it, bottom line.

On a final note, we also made it clear to you that legal tube style sites are fine, our terms state legal adult sites. So, based on what I see on your site now, we would have quickly gotten DMCA notices about your Illegal use of content, terminated your account for violation of our TOS and you still would have come here to call us "motherfucking scumbags".

In 4 years i have given Phatservers way more trouble then they have given me.

At anytime, for any issue, i get answers and service and in a quick and efficient manner. I would recommend my own grandmother to Sly and team their, anyday.

Possibly a simple accounting error? An email to billing@phatservers would have cleared that right up for you...

I want to be the first person to thank porntosh for coming here and telling us about his problem. Phatservers set him up perfectly for a tube site and yet he has nothing but complaints.

The idea to host a tube site on a 3mpbs plan is brilliant. Slow downloads means people will more likely click on the sponsor banner. For $150 per month, it is a steal bargain to host your own tube site with ridiculously slow downloads so that most everyone clicks on the sponsor banner just to escape. If you advertise your own paysites, then you only need about 5 sales per month to pay phatservers. This idea is brilliant. Lots of hot, pirated videos but no one can download them because the pipe is too slow. The ultimate bait and switch.

Thank porntosh for giving me the idea to start my own tube site on a 3 mpbs connection.

And one more thing, $150 per month is dirt cheap, you should such cock for $150/month hosting, especially if there is any significant anount of ram or disk space.

That's not an easy thing to do considering the number of crybabies (like you) on this board who want to start drama every time a server burps or a click isn't counted by a sponsor.

You obviously don't understand the difference between servers and bandwidth, and if you plan on continuing in the internet business, be it adult or mainstream, then you should learn about these things.

It would be like me renting a copy machine that cost $150 per month, plus 5 cents per copy....then I make 10,000 copies the first week and I'm pissed off because it ends up costing more than $150 for the month.
