    cancel the friggin' olympics

    they're over - the Olympics jumped the shark decades ago, nobody really cares about them and they are now a political powder keg. it's also obscene the money countries waste hosting them - does anybody think about Athens better today because they hosted an Olympics? Sydney? Los Angeles? I had to go to Google to even remember that Athens had them 4 years ago.

    keep the Winter Olympics - they're peaceful and only the nice countries are involved in those.

                                  The Olympics have been political for decades. And I also didn't remember they were in Greece four years ago probably because I didn't watch one minute of coverage. I agree with Mutt, dump the Olympics... and let's have the World Cup every two years instead.

                                          Or maybe they are really smart and knew that it would give them a shitload of media attention. Not many people watched the last Olympics, I bet a hell of a lot more will be watching this year.
