So the next story is "Victim sells house in Phoenix and moves to [victim's new address]."

between fark.com and slashdot.com, it's been an interesting day. Some people really do hate anyone involved with porn.

Congrats on the press Steve, hopefully it results in some nice type-in joins to offset the stresses associated with it.

This is a good point Charles. We can call it the WSJ bounce :-)

I would hope that it generates some good type in traffic and it should last longer than a day with the way the story is spreading across the net.

I agree with you Jay. I guess the flip side to that is it is a credit to his webmaster marketing skills that people think he is bigger than he is.

Congrats on the media attention Steve.

1 Million profit is nothing to sneeze at people!

After all expenses and salaries. Fuck Yah!

                      Congrats Steve.

1 million profit would seem low for lightspeed, but what is said in a article and what is acutally made are proably two different things.

Don't forget, what is said on gfy and what is actually made is also two different things.

I read the WSJ article in the wee hours last night and I still can't get over how positive it was.

I don't know what message you wanted to convey Steve, but that was good press.

They first contacted Connor Young, the president of Ynot (and an old friend of mine), asking for a good subject for an "internet success story". Connor listed me with several other people, and it went from there.

I asked them to give me a few assurances that my privacy wouldn't be compromised, especially regarding my children. Obviously, they felt my "double life" was more *newsworthy* that I did. They dug around for dirt on me, and when nothing interesting came up, they decided to "change the focus of the article" at the last minute.

I've always felt like my story is more about "David vs. Goliath", or "The Little Engine That Could", or "Honesty is the Best Policy". I hoped they would focus on one of those angles. I'm disappointed they chose the "double life" angle. They basically found out my worst fear and exploited it. When I last spoke to the reporter, I hung up on him after he repeatedly asked only about my kids and family life.

So lesson learned. It could have been worse, but I feel like they mislead me and didn't keep their word. I guess I expected more from the Wall Street Journal. I thought they were interested in business. I have lost a lot of respect for them.

No publicity or any number of joins is worth compromising my family. Thanks alot WSJ.

I refuse to believe what I read in gossip rags such as the Wall Street Journal.

In the REAL world, you HAVE raced helicopters down the Vegas Strip, all of the Lightspeed girls ARE actually 18 no matter how many years their sites have been on the interweb, and Jordan Capri has wet dreams of me every night.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Haha, 1) Do you think I'm dumb enough to give all my details to a reporter?

                                    2) Do you believe I do this for MONEY?

The reporter broke a lot of promises. I'm glad I'm not like THAT.

The reporter broke a lot of promises. I'm glad I'm not like THAT.

I agree Sleazy. Fortunately, Steve lives in a big city and has a common name or else it could be a lot worse.

Nonetheless, I am curious to see if he is asked by neighbors or other associates if he is the Steve Jones from the WSJ article, or gets that second glance that says people are wondering...I hope not, but that is where the real risk could be.
