OLd(er) car or pretty new car?

I know importing a car to The Netherlands for newer cars is a bitch. And at the end you pay the same price(and warrenty can be an issue)
    Questions?

A friend of mine did this a few years ago - can't remember all the details, but it wasn't too difficult. Cost about £5000 including transportation, tax, import duties and getting it road legal, but still worked out a lot cheaper than buying the equivalent UK model.

Check out the forums at http://www.pistonheads.com - there's bound to be someone there who can help you better than I can.

I imported one from Europe to the US and it was kinda a bitch. They had to start swapping parts until it met US regulations. Dunno about the other way around though.

This is one of the issues from what I learned so far... It has to go through inspections to make sure it meets safety standards in this country.

Yep, and it can get very pricey, very fast, depending on what needs to be done

I think by the time you have had the car shipped and had all the stuff done to conform it to uk standards, converted it to right hand drive and registerred it there is not realy a great saving for the pain in the ass this sounds like also I think the insurance may be a problem

I don't think its gonna be worth it if you're looking to save money but if you want to bring in a hummer or a corvette or something you can't buy in the UK and keep it left hand drive there are places that can help you or where you can buy already done cars like: http://www.newport-imports.com/
