    Why are people linking to rapidshare? - Business thread

    Why would people post links to rapidshare files on porn forums? Do they make money, if the surfer buys a rapidshare account from their link? I didn't found any affiliate program on rapidshare site. So why would someone put a link when he knows he wont make anything from it? I mean why wont they put a link to a paysite, this way they can make a sale. Even if conversion ratio is poor, it's still better than nothing, right?

    I'm not complaining, I wanted to make a thread where we can discuss the economics of rapidshare. Possibly we can find a way how to compete/fight against this.

          It's misguided users who want to share what they collected just for being super cool and getting loads of "thanks you" replies. They do it for fun and "reputation" on the forum, some sort of community thing...always amazing how much effort some people put into silly illegal activities.

                  Blows my mind man. Why anyone adult webmaster would ever link to rapidshare is a mystery to me.

                      Incorrect. When you contact them to remove your content, you CC paypal, and their other processors. You'd be surprised how quick your links come down.

                          Actually, the reason for many is that Rapidshare gives a "free" account for a month in exchange for 10k downloads. That's quite appealing for teens without a creditcard.

                          And aside from that, yeah, the community thing does come into play.

                              Well, my opinion (if anybody gives a shit about my opinion anyway ) is that people from 3rd world countries that can't join pay sites (they don't have credit cards, or are poor and don't have money for that) use rapidshare and similar services to share the files among them selfs (so they can jack off). Free porn (and software,movies,music etc.) attracts lots of traffic that can be used in various ways (many of them barely or not legal at all, but thats the other topic). Some of services similar to RapidShare even offer money for downloads so uploaders can even make money buy uploading and distributing illiegal content or content they do not own license for.

                                  What do you think, how much of rapidshare business comes from porn? Would you share your opinion based on your experience as an adult webmaster?

                                  I think it is about 75%, so that makes them a porn company right? Then why Ebay's Paypal processes for them? If say Bangbros makes a blank tour with text only, will Paypal process, then ?
