Rapper Shot, Killed at Party
Detroit (WWJ) -- The rapper Proof, from the group D-12, was shot and killed at a northeast Detroit club early this morning.
A spokeswoman for St. John Health System confirms that 30-year old Deshaun Holton, known as Proof, was pronounced dead on arrival at Conner Creek Medical Center--which had been known as Holy Cross Hospital. Although investigators on the scene said a second man shot in the head had died, a Detroit Police Department spokesman said that person was in critical condition Tuesday morning. The name of the second person isn't being released at this time.
Investigators say the shooting happened at an illegal party known as a blind pig. Homicide investigators have been on the scene since about 5:30 a.m. They say both of the victims were taken to the hospital before officers arrived. Police are said to be interviewing several witnesses this morning.
Proof appeared in the movie "8 Mile" as Lil' Tic. He was the freestyler who made Eminem choke in the opening scene.
