"secret sites" likely means sites not declared to the UN atomic people... sites that they say are, well, baby food factories or scenic cave tours and tunnels or whatnot.

Bush is truly a dangerous man. It shocks me every time to see how fast he goes from nothing to war footing with countries, quickly rattling sabres with these people long before it is truly needed. It would be much better to move towards an agressive option if there were more countries and more leaders on the same side of the discussion. It will not work out with Russia and China on the other side of the fence.

The 1990's gulf war coalition is the type of arrangement that works - a huge portion of the planet's politicos not only saying "it would be nice" but actually putting up and sending their troops, equipment, and weapons into battle to accomplish what is needed. It set a bar and a standard for this sort of thing. The bullshit "coalition of the willing" that went into Iraq was an insult to what Bush sr accomplished.

The next couple of years is going to be ugly, and might actually be the steps towards the next world war.

But don't you love it when we have something like 250,000 troops involved and there a big whopping +/- 10,000 from other "coalition" nations! It's just a joke. We definately need a true coalition to move forward like we did back in Desert Storm.

as usual, you are right :

The attention given to the nuclear option has created serious misgivings among the joint chiefs of staff, and some officers have talked about resigning, Hersh has been told. The military chiefs sought to remove the nuclear option from the evolving war plans for Iran, without success, a former senior intelligence officer said.

The Pentagon consultant on the war on terror confirmed that some in the administration were looking seriously at this option, which he linked to a resurgence of interest in tactical nuclear weapons among defence department political appointees.

The nuclear option hype is just to scare the Iranians into co-operating. It's been used before, remember how the MOAB was tested before Gulf War Part 2 and gained a lot of press attention?

Pentagon planners are studying how to penetrate eight-foot-deep targets and are contemplating tactical nuclear devices.

sure is! that's why it does NOT make any irresponsible claims such as
*bush is planning nuclear strikes on iran's secret sites*

                    thx for that

                    i'll say it again:
anyone who thinks the U.S. would initiate a nuclear first-strike really has no comprehension of world politics

Want to re-word that.... "Anyone who has no comprehension of world politics like the US, would initiate a nuclear first-strike".

Seriously... your not exactly talking about the most sane crew in the Whitehouse. They already have a track record to prove it.

Dubya has stated many times that he is guided by a higher power. That's the same guiding force of those committing terrorist acts and crashing planes into buildings.

We all know that the US is looking at nukes as one option with very high costs. Most think the idea is nuts but Dubya has always stated that he will protect the US at all costs.

Combine his beliefs of protecting the USA and being driven by a higher power and then think about other leader in history that has gone off the deep end and use massive military might.

If those facilities are too deep for conventional bunker busters and China won't a land war in Iran then that leaves few options on the table. Dubya has backed us into a corner by allowing the deficit to fly out of hand and jumping into Iraq for oil.

The Pentagon may decide it's a viable option and if you don't know that Dubya wants to go down in history and thinks that it may be his calling to use nukes then you haven't been paying attention to this mad for the last couple of decades.
