    Backup DNS service

Is anyone using a backup dns service??
    (like www.backupdns.com as an example)

    Can you recommend one?
    Pros? Cons?

I have always had primary/secondary on the same box (like i suspect a lot of you do) and was looking into maybe getting a separate secondary dns setup.

    thanks
    I have no sig...sigh

We've used ZoneEdit in the past and been pretty happy with them.
Of course now we have our own redundant name servers that we offer
you as part of our Clonebox service, which gives you a complete
extra server ready to go live if anything happens to your main server.

My husband "ToolGuy" has been using http://freedns.afraid.org for years now and has been very happy with them.
They offer both free and paid levels of service.

I don't suggest running them both on the same machine; even if you bind the slave to a separate IP and have it setup correctly, you know you have this single point of failure.

I've used ZoneEdit, and GraniteCanyon in the past. ZoneEdit's interface is a bit hokey, but their service works. If you want to pay someone too much money to host a zone, there's always UltraDNS.

Edit: Ray, hit me up when you have a second? I need to do some stuff to StrongBox, and I'm wondering if you'll support it, if I do.
