    Cops conviscated my drivers license

    I was driving home from work.....I pass a speedtrap....but wasn't driving too
    fast....200 meters there's traffic lights and they jump to green. Nobody on
    the fucking road....so I speed up so that I don't have to wait another round
    for nothing.....right before I'm at the traffic light some cop jumps from behind
    a fucking tree......yeah that's right a tree and pulls me over.

    Turns out that they had another speed trap with guys with those laserguns
    that got me while I was driving 53 Km/h too fast. I mean come on, no traffic
    on the road. I past the first speed trap without driving too fast. So just
    because I speed up a bit to catch the green light I get fucked.

    That will be around a 800 euro fine to get back

              I agree with you that it's fucking bs to get your license while you pay shitloads of tax and all that shit, but on the other hand when you decided to speed a bit more for the light you were probably already doing way past the maximum speed. And you should never ever speed near traffic lights hehe.

                          No I didn't I passed the first speed trap 200 meters before that without going
                          too fast. that's like 250 yards.

                              In Holland if they catch you speeding 50Km/h or more they conviscate it.
                              Even for foreigners. Then you have to call somebody to pick you up coz
                              you're not allowed to drive anymore. I'll get a letter in the mail this week
                              which tells me where I should show up for a hearing. Then they will decide
                              the fine and if I get it back inmediately or if it gets suspended for x amount
                              of time.

                              Since this is the first time I'll probably get it back with a 800 euro fine.

                                                  Image driving at the speed limit but you're so busy watching out for cameras and watching your speedometer that you don't have time to watch the road properly. That little girl is just as dead, and accidents like this are happening more and more often.

                                                                                  Dude you drive too fast, youre the one to blame. No one else. Ofcourse you have an excuse why you are allowed to drive fast...and the person in front of you as well and the person behind you as well. Every person thinks he has a valid reason to drive too fast. I wonder why there are so many accidents caused by speeding with all these responsible drivers who know what they are doing. Sounds a bit like ALL the responsible gun owners to me.

                                                                                      Did you read at all? Nobody on the road? Each driving direction 2 lanes
                                                                                      seperated by a strip of grass and bushes, only a possibility to turn
                                                                                      left? Nothing coming from the right coz there is nothing? While I speed up
                                                                                      I look at the road and NOT at my speedometer just in case a baby rabbit

                                                                                          why and gave my opinion why I think it's a bit cheesy considering the
                                                                                          situation at hand.

                                                                                          I'm not looking for a cheap way out. I just shared what happened,
                                                                                          will pay the fine and get my license back. That doesn't mean I can't feel

Yes, you think you are above the safety rules your country made (not without a reason) so yes, youre a danger on the road. What if all people would think like you? What if everybody drives too fast because they think they can. You should be happy not everyone is like you. The road would be highly dangerous. I hope you will never get an accident because you think youre allowed to drive too fast. And if you do i hope the only person who will get hurt is you.

                                                                                                                                                  That 10% is "excessive speed", which is NOT the same as breaking the speed limit. Of that 10%, 30% were breaking the speed limit, or 3% overall.

                                                                                                                                                  That means pedestrians are twice as likely to be the main contributing factor in an accident as drivers breaking the speed limit...

You can't compare British statistics with Dutch ones, plus the way people drive, the landscape and the roadstructure is completely different.

                                                                                                                                                              Strangely enough (in the UK at least) 19 years olds are less likely to get a speeding ticket than middle aged drivers.

                                                                                                                                                              They are however FAR more likely to be involved in a fatal accident due to drinking or careless driving (when was the last time you saw a speed camera that could detect something like that?), and figures for this are getting worse:

                                                                                                                                                                                          I did have stats for the entire country at one point but I deleted the bookmark by accident. As I recall those are pretty representative of the entire UK. Can't speak for other countries, but the UK does have one of the best (if not the best) safety records in the world. At least until they started reducing traffic police numbers in favour of speed cameras...

                                                                                                                                                                                              Whenever I drive faster I'm more concentrated then when I drive slow.
                                                                                                                                                                                              I have been racing cars and motorbikes since I was 3 years old (on circuits and tracks)
                                                                                                                                                                                              I normally don't race on public roads but like anyone else I aswell am in a hurry
                                                                                                                                                                                              sometimes or drive faster than allowed when the roads are dead quiet.

                                                                                                                                                                                              whenever I drive slow I get distracted a lot faster by all kinds of stuff. When
                                                                                                                                                                                              I drive faster I'm much more focussed on the road and traffic. Because of
                                                                                                                                                                                              my racing experience I look much further ahead on the road than regular
                                                                                                                                                                                              drivers and I can my reaction time is a lot faster aswell and I have much
                                                                                                                                                                                              better control over motorvehicules than people who learned driving at age
                                                                                                                                                                                              18 in a driving school. I have attended and given loads of advanced driving

                                                                                                                                                                                                  maybe the other statistics say that even a less percentage of excessive speeding results in accidents.
