A guard post "every mile or so"?Originally posted by AmateurFlixThat's simply not impossible to do... travel through the mountains of west virginia sometime and you'll see highways that tunnel under entire mountains for great distances. If structures such as that can be built, they can handle a simple (but large) wall. It would take some labor to do so, but as I said that very same labor could used to provide real jobs for people in the area - namely alot of mexicans looking for something better than illegal sweatshop wages.
The staffing shouldn't be very difficult either - a guard post manned every mile or so should be enough, maybe less if there is adequate surveillence. Cameras could be used to spot the presence of anyone approaching and then guards could be sent to the problem area before anyone arrives close enough to scale the wall. Tunneling might be a rare occurence, but if these people are literally walking through the desert they're not going to have any type of vehicle to punch through a wall with either. In any case it would drastically cut down on illegal immigrants, human trafficing, as well as the smuggling of contraband.
Real jobs for "people in the area"? There are no people in hundreds of miles in some of that area. This is like a cross between the moon and hell. We are not talking about Ohio or W. Virginia. Come down, I'll take you out for a ride in the desert and you can see what you're talking about. Hopefully we won't get stuck (like I did awhile back) and have to walk throught the desert so you can get a real taste of what this is about.

if you did not come into this country legally, then you do not belong here and you should be deported.
if i have to get a visa to get into every other country in the world, why should someone be allowed to come into this country, take jobs away from american people that need them and not pay taxes they way we have to?
go home and come back the legal way and if this country decides it does not want to let you in (just like i wouldn't let a stranger into my home), then take it for what it is and stay in your country.

What community? So you're saying illegals take over communities but legals don't? or you have a prob with legals too? If you do, consider leaving the country yourself too cos u too are an immigrant hehe. Anyway, I lived in NewYork, Chicago, LA all highly populated by legal/illegal immigrants and never had the kinda prob you're decribing.. thou heard complaints on this kinda prob only when I lived in the KKK part of the country down sounth.. where you from?Originally posted by Matt 26zJust because you are not competing for their jobs doesn't mean it can't negatively effect you.
As I said, they tend to take over communities as their own over a period of time. A great deal of the business owners in those communities go out of business because the new area residents refuse to freely spend their money. They make less money than the former population and on top of that they are sending a % of their earnings back to Mexico. That means a LOT less money is being spent at area businesses and they have to fold.

What is an American
What is an American? Someone who pays taxes? Someone who was born here? Someone who is white? Someone who is Green, Black, Asian ect? It's different in the mind of the person answering the question. Usually their answer is someone who is most like them, Vanity and is a MTF.ICQ-307696001 kingfisher.kj [at] gmail.comComment

I heard on house representative on NPR not too long ago. He has been trying for years and years to get the same bill passed. It would solve the problem very quickly.
He proposes to fine a company that hires an illegal worker 1/2 of their gross income for the year, for a first offense. Second offense they get their business shut down.
You don't think those jobs would dry up if something like this was passed. Once the jobs are gone, then the illegals will leave. Sounds pretty black and white to me.Comment

Obviously the staffing requirements would vary according to population density... no point in having guards where they are not needed as much - so long as they can spot a problem area and arrive in time to ward off anyone scaling the walls it would be doing it's job. Perhaps a team on standby in a helicopter or something would lessen the staffing requirements if they can view areas of the border remotely. The point is it's not an impossible task.
If you remember from another post, I told you I've been in the southwest area before (CA not AZ). I know what the terrain looks like there. The difference in the terrain between that area and what I was speaking of is maostly a lack of foliage and more heat, other than it's the same mountainous and rocky terrain anywhere else in regards to construction concerns. This is like a cross between the moon and hell. You see the problem here is that you have a criminal mentality. I won't pretend to know how things are run where you are from, but in this country problems are solved and criminals are prosecuted or otherwise dealt with as needed, which is why this country is not a third world shithole and will not degenerate into one.Originally posted by AmigoPorn"if you did not come into this country legally, then you do not belong here and you should be deported.

You know what amazes me is how our friends up north can have such a nice country, but south of us is a cesspool of filth. Exactly where did Mexico go wrong?
They are neighbors with the wealthiest country in the world, yet they can't find a way to legally profit off of that on a meaningful level. Instead their government encourages illegal tactics to get American money into the Mexican economy.Comment

The fact that you think the terrain of AZ and New Mexico is like southern California shows how naive you are. Simpler than dealing with the 12 million illegals. I like this idea. If the jobs dry up, they have no incentive to stay. Jailing some high profile employers might cause the others to fall into line. Fairly easy to check the employers documentation of their employees.Originally posted by Fetish GimpWant to stop illegal immigration? Jail employers that hire illegal immigrants. Valid point. Spot check the docs against a centralized national database. I presume people with a legitimate green cards have computer records at the federal level. If they can instantly validate people purchasing firearms, they can do it for immigrants.Originally posted by escorpioWhat if it's fake? Remember Traci Lords? Alexandria Quinn? My point was that there isn't any terrain in the area that would be impossible to build a wall upon. Whether it's flat desert land that could be built upon directly or if it is mountainous terrain that would need to be leveled first, it can be done and has already been done in other areas to build roadways upon. If you think that there is terrain anywhere in that area or anywhere else on this earth that is somehow impossible to build something as simple as a wall upon, you are mistaken. Although if some regions are already essentially impassable then building a wall in those particular areas would be pointless. The fact that you think the terrain of AZ and New Mexico is like southern California shows how naive you are. Yea very black and white except you aren't thinking how that would simply drive-up the crime rate. 12 million illegals may actually become 12 million criminals when pushed against the wall then instead of working to get paid they'll wanna get paid regardless. Unfortunately most people just read the title.
2) I am NOT a Christian. Haven't been one since around 1998. To be perfectly honest I loathe the Christian church and almost everything they stand for. Again had you READ my answer to Sleazy's questions back in the day instead of just reading the questions and nothing else, you would know this.

3) I addressed the hypocrite remark in the last paragraph. I think we all know who the idiot is here.sig too bigComment
