Realistically:
1) the illegal immigrants here now are not going to be sent anywhere. Like it or not they're an intergal part of the economy.
2) you cannot shoot innocent people trying to come into the country to work. you can catch them and send them back
3) A wall may keep some out, but that's why many come via tunnels
The solution is many folds:
1) Setup of guest worker programs; allow current undocumented workers to come forward and work legally; illegals that don't come forward and are discovered get sent back
2) Patrolling border better (this may include building a wall)
3) Punish companies that use illegal laborComment

Maybe the documentary I saw last night was a little too much for me - a journalist followed the path Africans do to hope to get into a European country and work to feed themselves and their families. Trust me, it isn't glamourous and one guy explained it very well - it's either I subject myself to this (running, hiding, treated like scum, living in stool infested areas) or I die of hunger in my own country. There are people who would be more than willing to build a wall for free. There are currently people patrolling the border for free. I actually live next to a city that is on the list in Mexico of places where illegals should go. These people DO IN FACT take jobs from legit Americans.
It is BULLSHIT that they only take jobs that no American will do. What happens is they flood an area with their cheap labor, and employers take the oppurtunity to hire them for next to nothing rather than pay Americans (Mexican-Americans included) what they deserve.
Then Americans refuse to do the jobs for those little wages, and suddenly the Mexicans are needed to do jobs that American's won't do. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
And no... You can't round up 12 million illegals and ship them out, but what you can do is totally eliminate their motive to come here. Lay the law down on businesses who hire these bloodsuckers. Once you take their jobs away, they'll high tail it back to their beloved Mexico since none of them like America other than their ability to make money here.
KRL... Yes, they pay taxes in the form of sales tax. However Americans would be paying that money in sales taxes anyway if they had the income from those jobs. More in fact since American's don't send half their wages out of the country. It's all spent here.Comment

I'm not a labor-class neither am I or ever did compete for any job with an illegal so it doesn't quite bother me. Personally I'd think since Americans are given so many opprotunities to go to college and get educated they should take the opportunity and educate themselves so they don't have to compete with those illegals. Now, yes ofcourse some of those illegals will take some American jobs but vast majorities are not and that is what you hear people say on radio/TV. Besides I think outsourcing is what really is hurting Americans more than those illegal immigrants. A great deal of the business owners in those communities go out of business because the new area residents refuse to freely spend their money. They make less money than the former population and on top of that they are sending a % of their earnings back to Mexico. That means a LOT less money is being spent at area businesses and they have to fold.

Peasants in asia built the above over 2000 years ago to span a much greater distance than what is being discussed here - over 4000 miles in that case. That's simply not impossible to do... travel through the mountains of west virginia sometime and you'll see highways that tunnel under entire mountains for great distances. If structures such as that can be built, they can handle a simple (but large) wall. The staffing shouldn't be very difficult either - a guard post manned every mile or so should be enough, maybe less if there is adequate surveillence. Cameras could be used to spot the presence of anyone approaching and then guards could be sent to the problem area before anyone arrives close enough to scale the wall. Tunneling might be a rare occurence, but if these people are literally walking through the desert they're not going to have any type of vehicle to punch through a wall with either. In any case it would drastically cut down on illegal immigrants, human trafficing, as well as the smuggling of contraband.Comment
