I guess what I'm saying is that I think the people bashing have been hypocritical, especially conservatives. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson stated that pagans, abortionists, gays, feminists and others with alternative lifestyles were responsible for 9/11. That the lord chose not to protect us because of them.
Now Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell are just as insane as a guy like Wright in my mind. Robertson and Falwell had a seat at the White House for weekly meetings with the President on policy and issues. Bush even had private conversations with Pat Robertson on whether to invade Iraq or not. He spoke at Bob Jones University in 2000, a school that doesn't allow interracial dating, has called the Pope Satan, and has fought tooth and nail to keep blacks off their campus for decades.
Now my question is why is the Rev. Wright issue so horrible, but taking military advice from a man who believes we were attacked because we have gays in our country is OK. Speaking in front of a racist University is fine? Is it because Rev. Wright is black? Is it because his Church is "different" than your classic white Church? It seems that race and xenophobia are the prime components of why this is a big deal and what President Bush did was not.
