How is it different?
A catholic who takes birth control or who is pro-choice is in direct defiance of the church. Not just their pastor, but the pope himself.
So why is it possible for a person to be catholic, attend church regularly, and yet still not agree with some of the core teachings of the church....but it's impossible for a black man to attend Obama's church and not agree with the things Rev. Wright said?
What I see in your statements is a projection of your own racism onto Obama. You assume that because you don't like black people that they don't like you either.
