It's crazy....

it will take a band or song name you provide, and compare it to other music. There are humans that analyze all the music out there, they have like 200 different variables for each song they analyze. acoustics, high pitches, certain instruments, fast, slow, etc... it compares all angles of music with other music and builds a database that you will probably like.

basically, it knows the kind of music you want to hear by simply telling it an artists name or even the name of a specific artists song.

of course, there are some artists/songs that wont be indexed into the system yet, but give it a little time, it's growing like mad.

like i said before, my buddy is in charge of hiphop and is reviewing music all day every day. its an amazing program.

oh ya, whatever you search for.. it will play a song from every 4 songs or so....

to keep you satisfied... the songs in between, it's assuming you will like as well.

I like pandora... It throws out music at ya, and it links to amazon or itunes so you can buy the song if you like. Shows the album cover, and where you are in the song. The audio quality is way better then launchcast

but....

if you know what song your looking for, want mp3 quality....
this radioblog thing has blown me away even more.
you can add it to your site. whoa... totally customize the player....pretty powerful possibilities.

I ahve a fear that Pandora is just going to turn out to be a major ass payola system that is outside of the control of the regulators. If it gets popular enough, I can just picture record labels dumping tons of bucks to make sure that their "hot new property" is getting played on all the related lists. By creating a slightly wider scope to the music, you could end up on many, many more playlists.

I don't mind the service, but once you stray out of the mainstream, it seems to pick some seriously weird and unknown stuff, enough that I would push "next" more often. Do that too often and you lose the ability to advance.
