Our local town has the historical distinction of being the location where the last public execution (hanging) took place in Canada - in our little courthouse just down the street from where we live.
Recently I had the chance to get a few photos of the original gallows (recently opened as a public exhibit). To a BDSM/fetish photographer, I couldn't help but think what a terrific prop the old gallows would make.
The prisoner would stand below the horizontal beam with the noose around his neck, the black trapdoor below his feet would swing open, and he'd drop below floor level and the rope would snap his neck.
