Except that by the time you got out, $20 million might buy you a new economy car and a case of Coke. I'd do it if the amount I was getting would be the inflation-adjusted equivelent of $20 million today.
I dont think, I know. Your kidding yourself if you think that money isnt the single most important thing in the world.
You must be a true idiot if you would gave up your family, friends, and in general 20 years of freedom just for money. No matter if its 20 Million, or 20 Billion, its definitely something completely stupid.
Money IS important, but not THAT important.
But perhaps you are one of these persons who would agree to cut their finger of for $100k or their leg for $1 Million
Another thing about money is that its far better when you earn it for yourself by working smart and hard instead of just getting suddenly a huge amount.
in 20 years the value fo 20 million dollars will probably be dramatically decreased and wouldnt be worth it...
cost of living goes up every year, some places higher than $5k for rent and utilities only.. $60k a year.
so $1 million today only buys you 16 years of basic living expenses, how much did $1 million dollars buy you 20 years ago?
imagine the interest of the bank account after 20 years. with 1 mil added to an account after every year, that would be way over 20 mil. Still wouldn't do it though. Maybe 5 years. But in min security.
Another thing about money is that its far better when you earn it for yourself by working smart and hard instead of just getting suddenly a huge amount.
exactly, making money is like climbing a mountain, the thrill is in the climb, once you get to the top, you enjoy a nice view for a moment, but the thrill quickly wears off, and then you start looking for a new even bigger mountain to climb...
Giving someone a lot of money is like putting someone on a mountain top, it's probably a fun experience for that person, but it's no where near as rewarding as climbing that mountain themseleves..
I dont think, I know. Your kidding yourself if you think that money isnt the single most important thing in the world.
fucking wow. what will you buy after 20 years? memories you don't have? prosthetics to do the things you'd have done by yourself and now you are not able to? hundreds of hours of therapy since you won't even be able to understand the new whole world and you'll have most values changed/skewed? a bloody family? a life project? A LIFE?
I'd understand this coming from a bum or somebody who knows there are no close chances of having a meal or a place to sleep. You'd pay me the whole income of US as a country and I still wouldn't do it. Happily, I don't need to fill an empty life with a new luxury car (which I already have) or a new hous (which I have too) or flamboyant vacations (which I take now and then). I can pay a bloody bimbo if I want, and I'm free to do ALL THAT.
