Hawaii has always been high because of the costs to get the gas to them. California, IIRC, has higher standards on gas which could account for the higher prices. What's even more interesting is how high Alaska is even with all their oil production - because they don't have access to processing plants, everything still needs to be shipped in. Also note that state taxes count for a lot of the price.
Yesterday in the Atlanta burbs it was $3.19 a gallon for regular - up here in the hills it's $3.29.
We still have it VERY cheap compared to many other countries in the world. Including the Northern State of Canada ;)
