WRONG.

Let's compare 2 people. Say both use the same amount of gas. Say 500 gallons a year. Both have the same income.

Person A- American makes $40,000 a year. Say gas goes up to $3.60 a gallon. That's $1800 a year or 4.5% of his yearly income.

Person B-Eurpoean makes $40,000 a year that's 62,400 Euros. Pays 5.64 Euros per gallon. That's 2800 euros or 4.49% of his yealry income. Seems about that same to me.
