So really your 5.64 euros per gallon is the same as an American paying $3.66 which is not much higher than what people are paying now.
Europeans coming to America on vacation can get a very good deal now. For 650 euros they can get $1000. Where as before to get $1000 would have cost 1000 euros or more.

The average american is thought to drive 12,000 miles/year, the average in the uk is thought to be 10,000, not really such a huge difference and im sure its similar for most or europe.
And probably 99% of people on this forum wherever they are from get paid in $ so to say he is paying $9 a gallon is relevant, even if it is 6 euros.
