Since when $900/month for 3 hours/day max is too little money for a Philippino

I tried to hire couple of Philippino webmasters to do some site reviews for me.
The work involved, half a page of review (text), couple of pics resized and linking to FHGs from the sponsor. 40 minutes of work max, can be done in 20 if you're fast.

So I get couple of offers from the "SIR" population, and when I showed them the general concept they all said yes, but later when I showed the finished template they should use for the job, they all started increasing the price, and according to their logic, it'd end up to be from $900 to $1500 kinda deal.

Freaking $1500 for the philippines, lol. Thought adultoutsourcing, prooutsourcing, xxxoutsourcing or whatever payed you like $200 or something.

For freaking $1500 I can hire 7 local guys, or 1 USA employee.

And, the funniest thing is, half of the phillipinos that contacted said they're americans living over there...ya right.

Recently i need something done so i contacted some of the outsourcers. I ended up finding an American who does the same work for half the price. Not that she works so cheap but those outsourcing guys ask insane prices. Kinda defeats the purpose of outsourcing, doesnt it.

If you go through the correct hoops you should save about 40-60% by using dedicated staff overseas.

If you are hiring a company that has offshore staff however, then you may not save anything as its all about their talent, skills, and service.

If you hire directly to workers (which is generally not the best idea) a 2k/mo american in an office setting would be about 400-500/mo in philippines.

I think where the foul up occurs in outsourcing is:

            1) People dont realize that they need additional management in place because their staff is 5k miles away.

            2) Many people dont have accurate knowledge about what a single designer or programmer should be able to do. In my visit to iWeb last week the most common reason for people dropping employees is because they cant design AND program well. For anyone that has had enough time in that field, its common knowledge that they are 2 completely different types of people. Also, I think there is some price lack of knowledge. a TRUE level 4 programmer in america should be as much as some lawyers. So a company like iWeb charging 4k or whatever is a great savings.

As for why a webmaster would want 1500...There has to be more to this story on one side or the other.

They always demand more money but want the work. I would never pay someone over there that is a new employee over 500 a month.

the above url is to the template they need to use
Do a review, resize 6 pics + 1 site screenshot and link some galleries
                  $10 / review, 90 reviews per month, 2 hours / day max

For what you want $600 should have been the max.

I guess all I can say is that you'll pay a premium for contract work versus dedicated staff situation because filipinos are looking for stability above all. With that being said, i think its a fair offer

what he said may sound stupid, but it's not. If his service is worth $1500/month, why should he charge only $200/month just because he lives in a poor country. I'm sure he didn't pull $1500 out of his ass, he asked for $1500, because he was able to get similar amount for similar jobs he did in the past.

                                      it's called market forces.

                                      let's say I have $1,500 a month to spend on a designer

do I spend it on someone in my own country, who's in the same time zone as me, who's easy to get hold of and who has english as his first language?

or do I spend it on someone thousands of miles away, who's in a different timezone, isn't easy to get hold of by phone, doesn't have english as their first language, and I can't even really confirm their qualifications?

money is being invested into third world countries because your money goes further. when it stops going further, it'll be invested locally instead

if someone in a third world country thinks they can charge the same as someone just as good that's in my country, they can't really be surprised when I don't pick them for the job

Yea, that's all true, but if he is able to charge $1500, why shouldn't he? If he doesn't get the job, maybe next time he will quote $1400, then $1300, untill he reaches a point where his price becomes fair. But now, the catch is, the guy that quoted him $1500 is probably not a cluless newb, he probably went through the price adjustment process already, and he already knows that $1500 is a fair price, after all he had many clients before that paid same or even more money for similar work.

If he doesn't get the job, maybe next time he will quote $1400, then $1300, untill he reaches a point where his price becomes fair. But now, the catch is, the guy that quoted him $1500 is probably not a cluless newb, he probably went through the price adjustment process already, and he knows that $1500 is a fair price, after all he had many clients before that paid same or even more money for similar work.
he can of course charge as much or as little as he wants. whether he'd get any clients at that price is a different story

maybe he's so unique and skilled, and can make this clear to prospects that he's able to get clients at that price

I doubt he will. Just about every Filipino designer wants to outsource. They see what Iwebmasters and similar charge and want to charge similar and think they are worth it. Problem with Filipino outsourcing in the home environment is its often not the best place to get work done.

If you find someone pay him well and look after him....but be prepared for a 90% failure rate....or higher.

i would charge $4500 for that per month so $1500 doesn't seem unreasonable for someone with enough knowledge of porn sites to do it at all.

btw, if your reviewers are going through the sites they review in 30 minutes, they must not be checking more than 1 video per site. that will mean less bookmarkers when the guys read your review, join the site and then discover that out of the 80 videos, only 5 are the high quality the reviewer reported.

what's the url to that filipino site where you can look for people with the skillsets you require? I registered at it years ago but for the life of me, can't remember the URL or the name of the site.

The basic prices for everything will be coming to a medium in the next few years. This internet thingy is still new and there have never been such massive amounts of people with a chance at making more money than they would get locally. The smart designers that outsource aren't going to hire themselves out at $300 a month simply because that's what they can get a job there for. You know damn well they can get $300 for a job that takes a couple of days and is still priced well under US prices. As more of them catch on expect prices to increase across the board.

If his service is worth $1500/month, why should he charge only $200/month just because he lives in a poor country. I'm sure he didn't pull $1500 out of his ass, he asked for $1500, because he was able to get similar amount for similar jobs he did in the past.

that's a little over the top, but then wages have to go up to be on par with inflation and cost of living, so don't get too surprised.

If you are hiring a company that has offshore staff however, then you may not save anything as its all about their talent, skills, and service.

If you hire directly to workers (which is generally not the best idea) a 2k/mo american in an office setting would be about 400-500/mo in philippines.

Enlightenme on this level 4 programmer. What is their qualification and what do they do?

I know I wouldnt be doing that for $10 but hey thats just me, if they are good quality, can actually speak english and can write then there is no reason to pay them less.

I understand what you mean if they talk like shit and of course their writing will reflect it. But if they are your average joe from a well spoken counry living over there doing the same work then the pay should be the same. The pay should reflect quality not country. Just my two cents

In this case they would have to work 7 days a week or really push it at 6 days a week to hit the 90/monthly review mark. I don't know the exact average salaries in that area but if what you are saying is true you do have a valid point.

Perhaps they are getting smarter and are slowly raising the pay scale bar though.
