We could really go way overboard with the political correctness here.
Comment: "Are you deaf? I SAID....."
Polititical correct advocates: "all people with hearing disorders should protest this type of comment."
Comment: "Hey, nice one dummy"
Polititical correct advocates: "Crash test dummies and store manequins have rights too!"
Comment: "You've got the IQ of an amoeba"
Polititical correct advocates: "This infringes on animal rights. Stop it immediately."

You see where this could lead, no? Really, if someone says something that someone else thinks is completely idiotic, well...... people are going to use terms like "retarded" weather others object or not. It's saying something about the person who is the target of the insult, and often times it is saying something about the person using the insult too. But it will happen. Sorry, but it will.
