heh... as much as you'd like everyone to stop using those terms, it won't happen. and reading those words is probably hard, but as a parent you need to be strong and learn to understand the context that is behind most of those remarks. usually i'll call people gay or queer, but i'm not referring to their sexuality. when people call someone a retard, in most cases they mean the person said something stupid or acted annoying n' what not. hardly do people sincerely believe a person is mentally handicapped when they throw that slang around.
so with that said, the only thing that should matter to you is that you know your kid and the people who use those terms don't. if you can practice understanding that concept, then reading / hearing those remarks won't bother you much at all.
