      Too many seals kill the fishing industry and they are over populated. Don't get your protest panties in a bunch because of the animals high "Cuteness" factor.

                      Gawd, every fucking year with the uproar about seal killings. Jeezuz people, they strive to make the kills quick, it's not done with torture in mind like the treatment many other animals around the world get.

                      Go protest the fucking bears being tortured in china or something.

                      Yes, sealing is brutal, that's why I don't watch it. Same reason I don't go to the local slaughterhouse to watch cows pigs and chickens being killed.

                              You people are alll idiots. How do you compare a cow farm to people just running around and bashing animals over the head? Not to mention some don't even die and then leave them to suffer.

                              I don't think they run around a cow field with a sword chopping off cows heads and missing sometimes and letting the cow suffer. These are 2 totally different things. ITS COMPLETLY INHUMANE. You people make me sick.

                                          I wouldn't bash a seal over the head for any amount of money. I don't watch footage of it either, I don't like it.

                                          But regardless of what I like, it's going to go on every year, for several reasons ALL of which have already been mentioned ad nauseum. According to many many MANY experts there are ecological reasons to allow it to continue, albeit restricted, and it will continue to happen every year whether you cry about it or not.

                                          You may as well deal with it.

                                          And cows get killed, seals get killed. Both get killed as quckly as possble. The difference is cows don't hang out on ice flows.

                                                                      I guess you missed my entire piont. I am not cool with killing animals for gifts or fun, food is one thing.

                                                                      If they kill a cow to make meat for people to eat and live ... I have no problem with that. And if after that cow has had all its meat taken from it, of course I would think they should use the skin too and do something usefull with it.

                                                                      You have missed the entire point .. this is about inhumane killings ... they don't eat seal meat ... well maybe a few do .. .but they are not killing these baby seals for food ... they do it for fur and money.                                                                                   I notice none of the protestors seem to have anything to say regarding the larger ecological issue, the one where several people have pointed out that leaving the seals alone would rapidly swelll their numbers to such a degree that their fish consumption would negatively affect the fishing industry, eventually leading to massive shortages in that area of human food consumption.

                                                                                  By the way, speaking of fishing, those poor fish are hauled in with nets and left to die a horrible death by suffocation on the deck of fishing boats. How aweful!! Shouldn't they at least whack each fish over the head and put it out of it's misery????

                                                                                      Right, that's why they still do use them for food right? It is not for "fun" as one uneducated yahoo put it. And the fur, it's called using the whole animal and not letting it go to waste. Also as I staed before did anyone realize it is also a cull to try and stave off the decimation of the fishing industry? But hey thier livelyhoods and ability to feed thier family is all fun and games! (Twat holes)

                                                                                          Two things ...

                                                                                          1 - This year was so warm that a record number of baby seals drowned to death do to ice caps melting. Sometimes nature fixes itself.

                                                                                          2 - Catching fish and leaving them to die is inhumane too. I haven't fished in forever and if I did, I would do it for food and I wouldn't let the thing just sit there and die. We put them in water tanks untill we get home and then just chop off their head. Its quick and not torture.

                                                                                              I agree with cows throats being slashed .. I don't eat that. I eat kosher meat where the animal was put to sleep with an injection not a knife to the throat. Plus killing a cow with injection keeps the cows muscles from tightening up .. making the meat softer and more tender.

You know what would be interesting, what if a new predetor came around .. whether its an alien or whatever .. but the point being something higher than us and something that hunted us. I bet a lot of people here would change their minds about humane killings. I'm sure non of them would ever want to see their friend or family member being killed with a club to the head.

I was pre-vet in college, I worked in zoo's and pet stores. I've been around animals my whole life. Just because they can't speak engish doesn't mean they can't communicate and show emotions. I have had horses that kiss you and nodge you when you are next to them just because they want your attention and like you. I have been around a lot of animals that show love and affection.
