I've been to Beijing last year during NYE, its was really fun! I went for a hike on the Great wall....as for shopping, all fake stuff is cheap but the rest is the same prices as here....
Have a safe trip...oh and if you have a chance, go see the pool stadium they built for the olympics..its really nice!
