                                My bf feels that in cases like this it should be up to ME to defend him and tell the guy to fuck off, and if I don't then he gets pissed at me. For example I should hold or hug him to let the other guy know that I'm taken or just tell him to fuck off. We got in many fights over this before...

                                                        I realize most of these 'pussy' responses are payback to Franck and his wisecracks. I do however believe he did the right thing. No use getting in a fight if the guy was trying to smooze her & wasn't being 'physically' disrespectful. The guy was probably drunk. Any guy in his right mind will not go back to try to 'pick-up' a girl if she's told him no, unless he's being 'dared' by his friends or just looking for a fight. In both cases, his state of mind is not right therefore, best ignore him but be on alert.

                                                        jackie1 - it is not up to you to 'defend' him - however, it is up to you to demand respect for yourself and your space. If you are not interested, you ignore him - don't look his way and if he comes close and says something you ask him "which part of 'I'm not interested' didn't you understand?" The next move if you're still feeling uncomfortable is to pick-up your stuff and go to another place that does not have obnoxious people hitting on you. What your boyfriend is referring to is sending the wrong signals - however, not everyone understands the signals even if they are bright red lights and blaring 'DON'T BOTHER' on the speakers.
