    Global Warming Is Fake

    http://www.time.com/time/magazine/ar...176081,00.html

The biggest conspiracy theory going on is this Global Warming shit.

What does Time Magazine or the top government weather scientist from NASA know? CNN and ABC News both did polls where the overwhelming majority of people believe that Global Warming is going on.

    Balderdash I say!

Just because giant sheets of ice the size of the state of Connecticut are breaking off the Antarctic ice shelf and because the major glaciers are melting at unprecedented levels and polar bears are drowning because they can't make the great swims between ice flows and bergs any more doesn't mean squat.

How dare someone throw facts in the way of my mind being made up!

          You got it!

We're too psychotic to save ourselves. China is going to be putting out 3 times the greenhouse gasses we do today in a few years. No one wants to develope and produce clean burning fuels or new fuel/energy technologies because it would crash the status quo of the petroleum cabals.

So we may or may not be past the point of no return. We may well be doomed to the next hundred years of super storms and weather extremes. If a few volcanoes decide to join in that just adds to the fire.

We'll be the only species in history to die from psychosis.

It's a fucking shame since we've gotten so close to solving all the problems of survival.

The fud factor used by people who dislike science like Papa GW Bush is that this "might" be a natural phenomenon. It likely is but it is being accellerated by human actions. When New York City and the other "liberal" cities are underwater the republicans will win even more elections. Therefore it is politically important to accellerate the ice melts before the next elections.

global warming is a joke... the earth goes through climate changes like this all the time. Hell animal waste puts out more greenhouse gasses then humans do. The only greenhouse gas humans dominate in putting out are CFC's. The rest humans are usually responsible for less then 5% of the total output.

total human greenhouse gas contributions add up to about 0.28% of the greenhouse effect. Believe the hype if you want, but if Global Warming is going to end us, we have nature to thank... not ourselves

I agree, but it is accellerated by greenhouse gases and adding heat to the atmosphere; although it cannot be halted it can be delayed.

The implications of global warming are already and always have been here. Weather changes are happening and will continue to happen, coastal cities will flood in time and the world will continue to change.

As with most complex issues it is not a black or white I am right and he is wrong issue.

and if all scientists agreed on this there would be no debate. There are many who disagree and think the issue is real.

As opposed to a supernatural process? Humans are natural. If they contribute to global warming it's still a natural process.

Anyone whos' actually taken the time to do the research will see the the cycle of warming that's occuring now globally is absolutely normal when we're talking about prehistoric climatology. The cataclysmic end of the last ice age was about 10,400 years ago, and we have been in the in-between phase since then. We are well due for some global warmnig to occur, and specilized science has shown that the global warming we're feelnig now is actually even more mild than the warming trend that occured before the last ice age. Even Antarctica at the time was relatively ice-free.

A lot more factors than just the ozone layer affect climate. The planet's position in the precessional cycle, other gravitational effects from planets and the sun (which are fluctuating, no large gravitational object has perfectly stable gravity all the time). The gravitation can affect things like techtonic plates, which can also contribute to the cycle with volcanic eruptions. Believe me, the super-volcano calderas of places like yellowstone HAVE gone off in the past, and their concequences have been as bad as Nuclear weapons.

Another major influence is earth's magnetic field. It too, fluctuates, and it can affect the effectiveness of our atmosphere to remain as a protective shield. Just as much as the ozone layer, the magnetic field protect earth from the sun's harmful effects, and a weak, fluctuating magnetic field that's allowing more of those rays in will also create a major warming trend. (Studies HAVE shown that the earth's magnetic field is currently in such a state of flux, and that it IS having a negative impact on atmospheric effectiveness).

I'm not saying the things that people are doing aren't contributnig in a negative fashion to the global trend towards warming in the last 50 years or so. But to pin it all on humanity alone would be like accusing the flea on the dog's back of gnawing off it's leg. The self-destructive capabilities of the earth itself in one fell swoop are far more powerful and effective than jsut about anything mankind can come up with.

I'd still be way more worried about our magnetic fields and other forces that affect climate.

Here's some info for those of you that think it's not real based on the "science" you've investigated

                                              http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/GlobalWarm...1770428&page=1

                                              Project Goal

A majority of the American public, including industry leadership, recognizes that significant uncertainties exist in climate science, and therefore raises questions among those (e.g. Congress) who chart the future U.S. course on global climate change.

Progress will be measured toward the goal. A measurement of the public's perspective on climate science will be taken before the plan is launched, and the same measurement will be taken at one or more as-yet-to-be-determined intervals as the plan is implemented,

                                              Victory Will Be Achieved When

Average citizens "understand" (recognize) uncertainties in climate science; recognition of uncertainties becomes part of the "conventional wisdom"

Media "understands" (recognizes) uncertainties in climate science

Media coverage reflects balance on climate science and recognition of the validity of viewpoints that challenge the current "conventional wisdom"

Industry senior leadership understands uncertainties in climate science, making them stronger ambassadors to those who shape climate policy

Those promoting the Kyoto treaty on the basis of extent science appears to be out of touch with reality.

                                              Current Reality

Unless "climate change" becomes a non-issue, meaning that the Kyoto proposal is defeated and there are no further initiatives to thwart the threat of climate change, there may be no moment when we can declare victory for our efforts. It will be necessary to establish measurements for the science effort to track progress toward achieving the goal and strategic success.

Here's a couple excerpt from another interesting report...

Lobbies heavily use the internet to spread their views. Every US emittershahaha8217; lobby has its own website. (15) Many of them try to obfuscate their character through the choice of a misleading name (e.g. the above-mentioned Global Climate Coalition) or the creation of research institutes. Besides their own researchers, they fund external research such as the famous climate "sceptics" in the USA. (16) For emittershahaha8217; lobbies it is quite easy to find that the costs of climate policy are high by using accepted economic models and pessimist assumptions about price elasticities or autonomous energy efficiency improvement. To bring their message to the voters, these lobbies use sophisticated campaigning methods such as ads, letters or even e-mail campaigns.

After Kyoto the American Petroleum Institute planned to launch a multi-year, $5.9 million strategic campaign (17) to convince the American public that climate change is scientifically unproven and thus climate policy is unnecessary. The campaign included an advertising blitz before the Conference of the Parties in Buenos Aires, the establishment of a "Global Climate Science Data Center" staffed by the member companies and the "recruiting" of five scientists that are not yet known as sceptics. All media were to be covered. A special focus was to be set on schools.

It's getting to the point where we can't believe anything we hear or read.

No it's not. You're just a Bush cocksucker.

Has our climate been warmer? yes.

would it natuarlly get warmer eventually? yes

Does that mean we have to help it out? No

Does it mean we have to accelerate the problem 100X faster than normal so we don't have time to prepare for this? No.

Ther are going ot be a lot more New Olreans over the next 100 years. Why they are trying to rebuild New Orleans is beyond me. it will just keep getting floded again and agian. What kind of hit is our economy going to take when City like New Orleans, Miami and others have to be constantly rebuilt? See going at a natural rate this wouldn't happen for THOUSANDS of years and by them we'd have the technology to deal with it.

I love how everyone argues whether it exists or not but no one ever makes a statement like "global warming may or may not exist as the result of our emmissions but a responsible coarse of action should be to at least address the problem of emmissions just in case it is us to prevent a future catasrophe". I know it's insane isn't it... to actually suggest that we not pollute the shit out of everything and hold all persons (that includes corporations which are 'persons') responsible for cleaning up whatever mess they create so that future generations aren't saddled with devestation that will ruin the economy. Actually never mind, that doesn't work with fattening up the bottom line today.
