Google scores a domain with X.

X = expiry date minus creation date. For example, you have a domain that was registered in 1993 and expires in 2015.

In that case, your X = 22

Reason is because the older the domain, more likely to be valuable. The longer domain is registered, the greater the committment is considered to be accorded to that domain and the less transient the domain is likely to be. Google also accords more value in PR transfer from domains with higher X value for the above reasons.

Its just one factor but it is a factor.
