Unless you can afford to pay off your line every month, you will be raped ruthlessly by the banks.

Stick with debit cards and you will never spend more than you really can afford.

DON'T MORTGAGE YOUR FUTURE! ITS A TRAP!
I have a credit card for one main purpose: to show a loan company that I can pay my card off every month. I've had it about 8 months and I haven't had to pay a cent in interest.

The other part of my plan was getting a conservatively long period for my car loan, and paying it off much sooner.

In Australia, your credit history only shows 'enquiries' (credit checks) and defaults. It does not have any record of good loans.
