    If Obama were white would he get more votes or less?

    Same speaking ability, same marketing, same charisma, same "platform".

    Would being white help him or hurt him?

        Something I've wondered too but think I'd come down on the side of more votes if 'white'.

        I think that the increase in votes he gets from his color is too small to offset the racists and bigots. Not only does he not get all the black votes, partly due to his rather light color and partly because some simply like Hilary, the actual turnout for black voters is sadly usually smaller (no I don't have links to hand backing that up but they aren't hard to find).

          I wouldn't be surprised either way. They've run a great campaign so far either way. About as good as they possibly could with Obama as their candidate.

            I personally do not think there is any question about he would be getting less...as it is my understanding that overall he is getting 90 plus percent of the black vote and if he were white the overwhelming majority of the black vote would have gone to Hillary.

              Even black leaders/friends that were long time supporters of Hillary/Clinton have been...and are...jumping ship and are now supporting Obama.
